Zechariah 2:1-13
Vision: The measuring line.
Summary: The city was about to be measured, but the man who was measuring was told that the city would be without walls, for God would defend her.
Explanation: God would defend and define Jerusalem. Additionally, with the offices of the two witnesses, He is the wall of fire around her. Hence, when someone threatens the temple of God, these two witnesses could call down fire, in the words of Revelation 11. For, whoever touches Jerusalem would touch the apple of His eye. He had decreed 490 years to bring in Messiah. He thus guaranteed their survival through the offices of the two witnesses, and none would harm her, so long as His decree was in effect. The Lord had roused Himself, because He would be zealous for Jerusalem, and the house of Israel, in this time, as He had promised through the prophet Daniel.
