Zechariah 11

Zechariah 11:4-17

Vision:  The Two Shepherds

Summary: Two false shepherds are seen.

Explanation: The two shepherds are understood to be Judas, who betrayed Christ, and Simon Bar Kochba, who was the “idol shepherd”, and the seige of Betar in 135 AD was seen as the winepress of God’s wrath.  v12 indicates the price paid for Jesus’ betrayal.  The second, the sword striking his right arm and his right eye indicate the manner in which Simon bar Kochba died.
