All Authority

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 28:18-20

After ascending to the Father, Jesus declares that to Him has been given all authority in heaven and in Earth.  Compare then, this to the comparative statement in the book of Daniel.

I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

Daniel 7:13-14

Notice that this is Jesus, one like the Son of man, coming to the Father.  To Him is given Authority (dominion), glory, and a Kingdom.  Now, comparing this to what the rest of the New Testament says, we must see this as fulfilled.

In Matthew 28, Jesus said He, then, had all authority in Heaven in Earth, after ascending to the Father, coming into His presence, as Daniel describes.

That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

Ephesians 1:19-23

In Ephesians, Paul also describes Christ as already having been given all rule, authority, power, and dominion.  Additionally, He is clearly stated to have already have been given a name above all others, both in this age and in the age to come.

All things are under His feet, and He is the head of the church.  But, all things, not just the church, is under His feet, already, according to Paul.

Christ is already crowned with all authority, glory, and dominion, and  a Kingdom.

Further study points out that Jesus, who always had His prayers answered, prayed in John 17:5, that He would be glorified together with the Father with the glory He had before the worlds were founded.  Since all was created through Him, to be glorified with that glory is to have more glory than all created beings.

When one has all authority, all power, all dominion, Daniel 7’s language leaves nothing else left for Him to receive.

His work on the cross was sufficient, in the eyes of the Father, and we must conclude, since Christ already has all of the things He was to receive in Daniel 7, that the text describing Him receiving these things is completely fulfilled.  A simple as this thesis is, it is still debated, simply because people do not want to accept the plain fact that it has already happened.

When one already has it, it cannot be given, therefore, this passage in Daniel 7 must apply to what happened between the cross and Matthew 28, and additionally Paul in the Epistles. The proof is self explanatory.
